Lots going on - May 20, 2013

Well once again, I haven't updated in a bit. Things have been extremely busy lately and we haven't had much down time.

Let me start by saying that I have been feeling bogged down by Facebook. While I love seeing what my friends are up to all around the world, there are so many things that annoy me about it that I'm thinking seriously about a FB vacation. It is a serious time waster and I would like to just read a book instead. It is really the only way that I keep in touch with many friends now. I don't know if that's good or bad. Anyway, we shall see. Maybe we will have to start writing real "old fashioned" letters and emails.

April and the start of May have been a whirlwind. So much has been going on. C and I took a 2 day trip to Cincinnati to go the the aquarium and museum. We had fun spending some quality time together while B and David stayed home and played. C loved it and keeps asking when we can do it again. I'm looking forward to taking a special trip with B when she gets a little bigger. I think they both love quality time with us and we better take advantage of it before they start hating us!!

B is doing great in school and has adjusted to that routine better than I could have ever hoped. She has made some nice little friends and looks forward to going twice a week. She has also developed some pretty good separation anxiety (thankfully she doesn't get upset at school). She gets nervous when we even talk about a babysitter or when someone new comes in the house. She usually recovers pretty quickly once we leave the house, but it is heartbreaking to leave her when she is so upset. She is a little lovebug and loves books and music just like C. She is chatting up a storm and gets new words every day. David and I went out of town for the weekend and last night she said "I missed you Mommy". Love that girl. She is independent and likes to do everything by herself. She is such a neat eater and can get things open. She likes to play with C but they haven't mastered sharing yet. C shares nice with friends, but when it comes to his sister, he's a little more possessive. Hopefully when she is a little older, they will find some common things they like to do together. B just wants to be around him at this point. She loves him so much...hope that lasts forever!

C is also doing really great in school. He has come such a long way since he started at his current school in October. Medically, he has some things going on (that deserves a separate post) but in school, we have been very pleased. He has some friends that he really enjoys spending time with and he is really excited about the transition to Kindergarten. We are so glad that 5 kids from his current class will be attending the same elementary school as him. That should make things even better. C's teacher is excellent and has his best interest at heart. She is so encouraging and loves having C in her class. We are just so happy that we ended up there.

Therapy is going. I think we all need a break from it though. This summer, we are pretty much decided that we will take a break from OT and PT and start up again in the Fall. We may still do some therapy groups, but not private. We are all burned out. We probably will continue speech if we can find a time that works after camp, mostly because this is an area that C needs a great deal of help and we probably shouldn't miss all summer.

Anyway, I do have some other things to update...we are overwhelmed right now with a lot going on and just hoping that everything works out for the best for C.
